Vintage Quilt Stockings

How to make a quilt into a stocking

My number one best seller by far was my adorable stockings! These stockings were upcycled from a vintage quilt (I looked for quilts like these on Etsy and Ebay).

What made these such a great seller was that they really ought to be purchased as a set. Every person who purchased one, purchased several to make a set for all their family members.

It was fun to watch people pick through the various stockings to find the ones they liked best, since they are all so different!

You can learn how I made these stockings and get your free stocking tempate in this tutorial.

Tiny Fabric Trees

These tiny scrappy trees are so cute and rustic, and probably were my #2 best seller when I sold them at the craft fair.

I made a bunch of them in all shapes and sizes and colors. Most people who bought one, bought 2 or 3 of them so they could display them together in a little grouping.

These trees are a little more involved of a project, but if you work in a “factory-line” style, doing each step on every tree before moving onto the next step, they go quick!

See how I (and my husband) made these trees in this photo guide.

Hair Scrunchies

Now, I realize they aren’t a Christmas item, but they do make great stocking stuffers! I made two sizes, normal, and “jumbo”. I found that offering a discount for the more scrunchies purchased was a good way to sell multiples.

Decorative Wall Banners

Wall banners are a nice home decor item that also make great gifts. There probably won’t be anyone else selling them at the fair, which will be a plus for you!

You can customize them with Christmas quotes, clipart, or embroidery.

I have had good luck selling canvas banners especially on Etsy, but they could be good for craft fairs too!

Christmas Gnomes

These little gnomes are SO cute and fun to make out of upcycled sweaters. They are unique, and everyone who sees them loves them! They make great gifts and decorative pieces.

You can make them as big or small as you want, and they would also be a good item to sell in sets.

(You could even make them into ornaments if you wanted.)

See how to make your own in this easy tutorial.

Oven Mitts

Beautiful oven mitts and pot holders are a great gift item for Christmas shoppers, I love the modern look of the mitts in this sewing pattern.

These would be a great set-seller as well!

Headbands

Like the scrunchies I sold at my local craft fair, headbands would be a great stocking stuffer gift item for shoppers! Especially these mommy and me versions that you can get the pattern for, matching sets would be very cute!

Drawstring Gift Bags

Reusable gift bags are a great item not only for those who want to be able to re-use the wrapping, but also for wrapping gifts that aren’t a convenient box shape.

These would be cute in different holiday fabrics, offered in sets of multiple sizes or as single purchases. Patternmaker Julie says “These are always a best seller at craft fairs.”

Lavender Sachets

Lavender scented sachets are easy to make and very giftable, a perfect craft fair combo! Sew these little fabric bags and fill them with some simple ingredients to make a naturally scented handmade product that will draw people to your booth.

These can be placed in drawers, luggage, closets, or cars to help the area smell great!

Heatable Rice Packs

These diy rice packs are ridiculously easy to make, and a really useful gift for the wintertime. Each one holds about a lb of rice and can be re heated over and over again!

Small Circle Zipper Pouch

These little circle pouches are perfect for holding small objects and can even be clipped on a keychain. Pop in earbuds, lip balm, change, and more.

These would be an easy product to display on hooks at the craft fair, with different color options to pick from. They’d be great stocking stuffers too.

Christmas Tree Bunting

Looking for an easy but cute Christmas decoration to make? These Christmas tree buntings are fast, and a good option for a Christmas craft fair. You can make them with scraps for a rustic look

Gift Card Holder

Lots of people are giving gift cards these days, and a reusable gift card holder is a unique way to give them! You could make these in matching fabric as the reusable gift bags.

I hope this list of items to sew for a Christmas themed craft fair is helpful to you! If you can think of any other great ideas, leave them in the comments below. And also come back and let us know what was your best seller, I would love to add it to the list!
